Why Certify?
I'm interested in certifying - so what's the process?
A new entrant to the industry will follow a roadmap to attain an appropriate qualification that, combined with pertinent work experience, meets the entrant level MITC Certification Prerequisites.
1. Pick a domain
MITCTM delivers certification assessments in the following domains:
Television (TV)
Transmission (TX)
Outside Broadcast (OB)
Radio (RAD)
New Media (NM)
Film (FILM)
2. Pick a level
Across all domains, MITCTM will give a candidate certification at the following levels:
Level 4 - Master Practitioner- Running the business
People who are responsible for end results. Master Practitioners are highly business-focused, and typically are in senior or advanced leadership roles which may correspond to titles of Chief, Network, Director, or VP.
Level 3 - Senior Practitioner - Technology Leadership - business focus
People who not only work without direction and who may or may not be in supervisory roles, but also are creating things and demonstrating leadership skills. Senior Practitioners are recognised as self-actualised and business focused.
Level 2 - Practitioner - Technology: doing the job, specialist
People competently doing their job and who can do the work without supervision or direction.
Level 1 - Associate Practitioner- Industry breadth and principles
People at Entrant level, representing the new, emerging experience candidate
3. Look at the Syllabus
Download the Domain Syllabus to check the expected knowledge and/or pre-requisites required for your chosen level.
For Levels 1 and 2, a certification assessment must be taken. For Levels 3 and 4, you can elect to get assessed, or you can choose to submit service requirements.
Remember, MITCTM is not academically based, it’s industry based. It’s about showing what you know in a working industry environment.
4. Enrol for an assessment or review
Once you’ve chosen the appropriate level and domain, register and enrol online. Make sure you have your CV on hand as questions will be asked about qualifications, memberships and employment history. Registering on the site means you can save your application and return to it at any time. It also makes it easier for re-certification as your data will be stored.
5. Attend the assessment or review
Once you have enrolled and completed payment, you will receive a confirmation of enrolment together with time and date of your assessment. You are expected to arrive with your own materials to complete the assessment:
- pens, pencils, eraser, sharpener
- ruler
- approved calculator
Scribbling paper will be provided, however all papers will stay in the assessment room.
6. Receive the result
If you are successful you will receive a notification via email and a certificate posted to you.
If you are unsuccessful, you will be given a 3 month window to re-sit the formal assessment at the discretion of MITC Limited.
This structured approached is designed to create a practical fit and relevance to career opportunities and seniority levels within the industry thereby ensuring that MITC certification is a relevant measure for industry employers and a worthwhile certification for candidates to pursue.
