The MITCTM process has been designed to enable an industry shift in learning culture, by creating a measurement system which rewards candidates for knowledge, experience, and industry focus.
MITCTM is intended for people who wish to make a vocation in the media industry by creating a set of industry-driven benchmarks that can be used by the Education system in conjunction with the role expected to be played by Industry as part of the nationally recognised Australian Qualifications Framework.
The “lifecycle” of progress through the industry and the MITC process is also designed to encourage recognised technical gurus to contribute a little of their time to the pool of trainers who impart their experience for the benefit of the new hands.
MITCTM will:
(a) conduct appropriate research related to the knowledge and skill requirements of the media industries;
(b) promote greater industry awareness of the benefits associated with standardising and benchmarking employee skill levels and increased employee mobility;
(c) seek industry feedback and input into the content and standard of the certification process;
(d) devise an assessment process which will allow candidates to undertake a competency assessment to be certified as Media Technologists with industry-wide recognition;
(e) administer the enrolment, assessment and certification process;
(f) undertake any activity which are in the interests of serving these objectives.Please note MITC certification does not imply a right to work and will not be used as the primary final selection criterion for a job.
